Printing on Clay
Decals and Screen Printing For The Ceramic Surface
Instructor: Margaret Pankhurst
Create laser print decals for application on glazed ceramic surfaces
Create small flexible screen prints to use with underglazes to embellish greenware.
This class will give participants the knowledge and techniques to create reliable crisp imagery on their ceramic work. Students will have access to a wide range of materials to create their imagery.
Students will make greenware press formed simple plates and/or small volumetric forms to aid in utilizing the screen printing and laser decals. The class will learn to make and fire laser printed decals and apply them to glazed ceramic ware. We will also make simple EZ-silkscreens from black and white transparencies and apply the imagery to bisque ware using underglazes. Students will create black and white imagery using a variety of sources including: personal drawings, photographs, and clip art. Students will be given a list of all resources so that they may be able to recreate all processes after class. All students will be using Laguna b-mix for this class.
